Andranalizer YM is written in Java and compiled for version 1.5. You'll need JRE 1.5 or newer to run this.
The application is however embedded in a windows exe file, compiled with Jsmooth. Hopefully Jsmooth will automatically detect or help installing the proper JRE... :)
The jar is still available separately in the binary distribution, in case you want to run the application on another operating system.
Check the paths in the Andranalizer.ini file (PROFILES_PATH and MESSAGES_SUBPATH).
They should be, for example: /Program Files/Yahoo!/Messenger/Profiles and /Archive/Messages.
The first one is dependent on where you have Yahoo Messenger installed. The other one is kinda fixed for
all, but added here for some flexibility, if Yahoo Messenger
will store the messages differently in the future.
Do you have the archive enabled for any of the users who runs Yahoo Messenger on your pc?
You can do that by configuring your preferences in Yahoo Messenger, when you're logged in, or by just
editing a key in your Registry. (Check the keys "Enabled" and "AutoDelete" in
"MyComputer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yahoo\pager\profiles\SomeUserName\Archive".)
For starters, it won't work with Trillian, Gaim etc. (other Yahoo Messenger clients.) It assumes the
archive format is that used by Yahoo Messenger itself.
It won't work with very old versions of Yahoo Messenger either (I know that in the past, the archive was
stored in a single plain-text file).
I tested the program with Yahoo Messenger 8.0. Hope it will work with future releases too :)
The Yahoo Messenger itself has an archive viewer, but it only works if you're logged in with a certain
user (and you only get to see the archive for that user).
With this program you read any archived ym chat on your computer and don't need to log in. I also have
the impression that it runs faster (well, that's perhaps because it just outputs texts, doesn't
render emoticons and others...).
I know there are other programs doing this, too. (I'm not aware of any written in Java, though.)
In the near future, the program will be able to search words/regular expressions in the archive and
offer some statistics.
